How I met your mother has always balanced fun and drama and that's what makes it unique and lovable. You connect with the characters instantly, however season 7 so far (5 episodes left ..... :O) has been lacking on the fun part and even the drama is just for the heck of progression, limited to the last 2 minutes of every episode. The same has been the case with Episode 19 : The Broath !
The episode starts with Barney forcing Ted to take a broath (bro oath) to not tell the gang that Quinn is a stripper. As per his expectations Ted blurts everything out. All this is part of Quinn's master plan (remind you of somebody ??) which also involves faking a breakup with Barney during the Intervention which the gang holds for Barney. The plan ends with them making Ted and Marshall kiss !! The subplot revolves around Ted and Robin who fight over Quinn's apartment .......... Ted wins in the end as Robin gets promoted and moves to an apartment in Central Park West ! Marshall and Lily spend the episode as shadow characters who narrate stories of their sex life .... !!
The episode does bring a few smiles, but sadly that's all it does !! The jokes are lame, (Marshal trying to convert every word that begins with 'In-' to 'Quinn-' is not at all funny). You guess the Broath and the Ted-Robin fight would be interesting but they are not. This is because throughout the series what we have loved more than Barney's fake history stories, is the gang's reaction to them, which was missing !! The Ted-Robin fight was overshadowed by their ongoing problems !! The only good parts are the Ted-Marshall awkward kiss and the revealing of Quinn's master plan !!
Overall the episode was disappointing ........ maybe I expected too much as it came after a month gap !! In the next few episodes I hope to see more of Barney and Quinn as they look amazing together ! But we know that Quinn is just a turnwheel for Robin who is ultimately going to be Barney's bride !!
Hoping much more from the coming episodes .... next one is on the 26th ....... i think !!
