The base for this episode was set in the last two, Walden started a new software firm with his friend Billy and Alan and Lyndsey's mother started dating ........ so there were a lot of expectations from this one. I am happy to say that it does stand up to them !
It is a pretty amusing episode, it may not instigate laughter beyond control but it is quite funny. We find out that there are in fact three partners in Walden's new firm ie. Walden, Billy and Bridget, as she helped him write the first level of the code. When Walden tells this to Zoey, she gets angry and storms out of the house. Meanwhile, Lyndsey and Alan are occupied with their own problem of what to do with their mothers. Both parties decide to organize separate dinners to solve their problems. Over dinner, Bridget deliberately tries to ruin Walden and Zoey's relationship and succeeds. To make amends, Walden asks Zoey to move in, to which she agrees. However she has one condition that Alan has to move out.
There are some small bits in the episode that make it funny like Walden's whispers, Alan's tea, Alan's shivers, the old ladies relationship, Alan's direct addressal to the audience and Bertha's interfering comments. The episode actually takes the story forward .......... which has been very rare with TAAHM since the beginning. It seems Jake's character has been permanently demoted to a subsidiary one. This season has been developing in such a way that his absence wouldn't affect the story line at all.
Overall, the episode is mildly amusing with a few funny moments. I am eagerly waiting for the next episode as Walden finally breaks the news to Alan.
Star Rating : ★★★
PS. It has still not been renewed for a 10th season ........ enjoy while you can !
